Delores Evelyn Loomis, 77, died September 3, 2008, in Yuma, Arizona. She was born September 2, 1931 in Casselton, ND, daughter of Halvor and Alma Larson. Delores moved with her family and cousins to Vashon Island in 1937. She married her husband of 58 years, Duane Loomis, on Vashon on September 1, 1950.
Delores and Duane lived in Washington State until their retirement in 1993, and they began living in Yuma part time. They became full-time residents in 2003. Delores shared Duane’s love for music and often accompanied Duane on his “dance jobs”. She served for two years as President of the Tri-Cities Jazz Society in Kennewick.
Family and friends will remember Delores as a loving mother, for her gracious hospitality and her quiet elegance.
Delores is survived by her husband, Duane; her son, Mark (Diana) Loomis of Beaverton, OR; her daughter, Marilyn (Rik) Bojum of Piscataway, NJ; her brother, Gary (Kay) Larson of Olympia; three grandchildren and one great grandson.
Memorial services were held in Yuma on September 6, 2008. A chapel service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Island Funeral Service.
