Chris Jan Carey died February 10, 2004. She was 49 years old.

She was born Sept. 2, 1954, in Mankato, Minn., and moved to Winona, Minn., in the seventh grade where she met her lifelong friend Nancy Cieminski.

Friends say she was a friend to many people. Animals were her passion.

People who knew her are invited to celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at the Sportsman’s Inn.
