It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charlene Bain, who peacefully left us on January 25th at the age of 75.

A devoted mother, loving wife, cherished sister, and an extraordinary teacher, Charlene touched the lives of many during her 30+ years of dedicated service in the Vashon Island school district. Born on August 16th 1949, Charlene was a 35+ year resident of Vashon Island, where she became an integral part of the fabric of the community.

As a teacher, she had an unwavering passion for education and a unique ability to connect with her students. Over the decades, she imparted knowledge with patience, creativity, and compassion. Countless former students will fondly remember how she instilled not only academic skills but also life lessons that guided them through their own journeys. Charlene’s impact went far beyond the classroom — she shaped the future of many, inspiring them to reach their fullest potential.

A loving sister to Cindy and Craig, Charlene shared a special bond with her family which was characterized by warmth, support, and unyielding loyalty. Her role as a mother to her two sons, Jacob and Matthew, was one she cherished deeply. She poured endless love into her family, offering them guidance, strength, and encouragement throughout their lives. As a devoted wife to Larry, she shared a partnership built on mutual respect, love, and shared dreams. Together, they created a life filled with joy and memories that will be treasured forever. Her kindness, sense of humor, and dedication to others made her a beloved figure in her community.

Charlene was a constant source of encouragement to those around her, whether in her personal life or as a mentor to her students. She demonstrated that teaching was not just a profession but a vocation, one that she held close to her heart. Charlene’s legacy is one of compassion, hard work, and a deep belief in the power of education to change lives. She leaves behind a legacy that will endure for generations to come.

She is survived by her loving husband, her sons, her siblings, two granddaughters, and a host of extended family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held this summer. where family and friends are invited to gather, reflect, and honor her memory.

Charlene will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege to know her. She leaves behind a profound and lasting impact on the community she served so lovingly and selflessly.
