Betty Josie Gordon
Oct. 27, 1919 – June 17, 2004
Betty Josie Gordon formally of Vashon Island, passed away peacefully with
her family by her side at the age of 84 on June 17, 2004 in Kailua-Kona, HI.
She had spent the last eight years in paradise. She was active in the Kona
Outdoor Circle with gardening classes and bridge. Born in Seattle, WA to
Clarence and Clara Bryant. Married Frank L. Gordon in Jan of 1943. Frank was
off to war and Betty took part in the war effort by working in a lumber mill
& being a riveter. Together they raised their two sons & daughter with
vacations and weekends going over to the family summer home on Vashon. Betty
made sure they retired on Vashon. Together they turned the beach home into a
wonderful year round home. They shared many beach parties with oysters and
shrimp from the ocean and many local steamer clams. She was known for her
fabulous cooking. Betty enjoyed bridge at the VICC. She was an avid gardener
& took pride in growing her flowers from seed. She is survived by her son
Don Gordon of San Clemente, CA, son Alex (Karen) Gordon of White Sulphur
Springs MT, daughter Celia (Rick) Walters of Burton, WA. Five grandchildren
and one great grand child.
A memorial was held at the Outdoor Circle in Kona, HI. The family will hold
a private ceremony with the scattering of her ashes in Quartermaster Harbor.
