Bertha Sorensen Johansen, formerly of Vashon Island, died Dec. 3, 2002. She was 89 years old.

She was born July 3, 1913, in Astoria, Ore.

She lived the last seven years at Hearthside of Lynnwood, after moving with her husband from their home on Vashon Island.

Bertha had many interests and enjoyed gardening, shopping, sports, and her nursing career at Vashon Nursing Home and Mt. St. Vincent’s in Seattle for many years.

Her parents, Sigvald and Emilie Sorensen, husband Barton Johansen, and sister Borghild Stavney, all died earlier.

There were numerous survivors, including her children and grandchildren.

Graveside services were held followed by a reception at the home of Clifford and Laura Andersen.
