Anna Mae Scott, 98, died June 30, 2010, at the Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
She was born December 28, 1911, in Bellingham, Washington, daughter of George and Minnie Mae Brundage. She married Frederic K. Scott on April 17, 1911 1934 in Port Orchard, Washington. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, James A. and (June) Scott of Seattle Washington, David K. and (Phyllis Scott of St. Marys, Ohio and Sylvia and (Keith) Stearns of Mimbres New Mexico: six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a foster sister, Juanita Borja of Silver Springs, Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Russell Brundage in 2001.
Anna Mae lived on Vashon Island for many years. After the death of her husband, she lived for some time in Missouri then Massachusetts and finally New Mexico. She taught art and music (piano, violin) over the years and continued this interest till the end of her life. The week before her death she was honored by the city of Las Cruces as its “artist of the month.” Her paintings were on display in the city building, and she received a plaque labeling her a “master artist,” of which she was very proud.
Anna Mae was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Las Cruces. A memorial service was held there for family and friends.
