All Home, the organization that took over the annual point-in-time count of King County’s homeless population from the Seattle King County Coalition on Homelessness last year, is looking for volunteers for this year’s count.
Count Us In will take place in the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 26 in locations throughout the county, including Vashon.
As was the case last year, the count teams will include expert guides — individuals who are currently or have been in the past, homeless.
Volunteers are asked to work in groups of two or three to conduct visual counts in their assigned areas.
On the island, 77 people were observed to be without shelter during the 2017 count. Collected data is used for awareness purposes and to inform systemic response.
Volunteers are expected to have cell phones and will need to be able to walk up to two to three miles. For more information or to sign up to volunteer, see allhomekc.org/king-county-point-in-time-pit-count/.
