The Vashon boys lacrosse club continued through the toughest stretch of its season schedule with games at top-ranked and nationally recognized Mercer Island on April 21 and a visit to Bothell High School to play Northshore on April 24.

Vashon’s tentative play against a talented and experienced Mercer Island team resulted in the other Islanders cruising to a resounding 19-0 win.

Against Northshore, Vashon faced the league’s top-scoring tandem. Though freshman goalie Aaron Bomber stood tall in the goal, Vashon did not have an answer for Northshore’s offense.

Northshore jumped to an 8-1 lead before Vashon could get any offense rolling in the third quarter.

Once Vashon settled, the team put together some sound defense and three consecutive goals from sophomore Luke Hembree.

Despite illness and injury, Austin Franks vacuumed up five ground balls.

Franks is amongst the league’s tops in securing ground balls. Vashon gained some momentum in the second half, but came up on the short end, 15-4.

Vashon’s schedule remained challenging with a trip to perennial powerhouse Bainbridge Island on Tuesday, April 27.
