Richard Sanders, a libertarian lawyer and Gold Beach resident, has a shot at returning to the state’s highest court after he narrowly garnered enough votes to advance to the general election.

Sanders lost his seat on the state Supreme Court two years ago, when Bainbridge Island lawyer Charles Wiggins defeated him. But he ran again, and by Monday night, he had narrowly claimed the number two spot in a four-way race, placing him on the ballot for November’s general election. Sanders will face Seattle appeals lawyer Sheryl Gordon McCloud.

In a race for King County Superior Court Position 25, deputy prosecutor and Vashon resident Roger Davidheiser will face Elizabeth Berns in the general election.
