The meeting will be at the Vashon Cemetery located at 19631 S.W. Singer Rd.

The Vashon Park District board of commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, in Ober Park.

Sewer

The Vashon Sewer District board will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, at the Vashon-Maury Senior Center at 10004 S.W. Bank Rd.

Water

The King County Water District 19 board of commissioners will meet at 6:30 p.m on Tuesday, May 13, at the district office at 17630 100th Ave. S.W.

Amelia Wilke

Islander Amelia Wilke, 8, competed in the Washington state Level 4 gymnastic championships on Saturday, April 26.

After performing four solid routines, Wilke medaled, placing seventh in the all-around category. Her team, Auburn Gymnastics, placed in the top 10 out of 59 gyms.

Eileen Burke & Andy Casey

Eileen McGinnis Burke of Vashon was married to Andy Casey of London on December 15, 2007, at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Croydon, U.K., near London.

Burke is a 2002 graduate of Holy Names Academy in Seattle and a 2006 graduate of the University of Portland.

Casey is a graduate of the University of Portsmouth in Portsmouth, U.K.

Burke and Casey met while Burke was studying in London in 2004.

Burke is the daughter of Joanne McGinnis and Kelly Burke of Vashon. Casey is the son of Judy and John Casey of London, UK.

Because of the value of the U.S. dollar against the British pound, the couple will honeymoon in the United States in September 2008.

Stanley Bokland, 62

Stanley E. Bokland Jr. of Marrowstone Island died on April 29, 2008, at Jefferson Health Care with his family by his side.

Bokland was born in Seattle, on Aug. 4, 1945, to Stanley E. Bokland Jr. and Margaret Caldwell Bokland. He graduated from Vashon High School in 1964.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. On April 4, 1972, he was honorably discharged. He was hired by Fred Hill Materials on Oct. 24, 1975, and continued to work for them throughout his life, thoroughly enjoying each day with them. He was an active member of the Teamsters Local Union No. 589.

He moved to Marrowstone Island on Aug. 3, 2003, with his loving companion, Dody Woodside. According to family members, he enjoyed walking on the beach, watching ships go by, as well as crabbing, shrimping, fishing and spending time with his friends.

He leaves behind his brother, Scott Bokland of Vashon Island, and his sister, Kyle Fleishbein of Anacortes. Other survivors include Bokland’s companion, Dody Woodside, and her children, Denise (Troy) Craig of Port Hadlock, Julie (Reza) Golzarian and children Erick, Megan and Joseph of Portland, Ore., Rollie (Tina) Hanna and children Richard, Gatlin and Felicia of Port Townsend and Paula McCammon of Lynnwood.

Bokland’s memorial service will be held at Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend on May 10, 2008, at 1 p.m., followed by a gathering at Fort Worden Chapel for family and friends.
