As part of a promotion for Proctor & Gamble (P&G), Seattle Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith will visit the Vashon Thriftway on Tuesday.
Smith, who has an endorsement contract with P&G, will spend two hours in the store, and customers will have a chance to meet him, according to store manager Clay Gleb. As part of the promotion, anyone who purchases $25 of P&G products during the appearance will receive a free Seahawks’ beanie.
Smith, 25, was drafted by the Seahawks in 2011 out of the University of Southern California (USC), where he played under coach Pete Carroll — who coached at USC before coming to the Seattle — from 2007 through 2009.
In just his third year as a pro, Smith made headlines last January with his game-winning interception against the San Francisco 49ers after the infamous Richard Sherman tip. Two weeks later, he was named Superbowl MVP after a fumble recovery as well as a post-interception 69-yard run-back for a touchdown against the Denver Broncos.
Gleb noted that Smith will only be visiting two Thriftway stores in Washington and that the Vashon store was chosen due to the large volume of P&G products that it sells.
Barring injury or cancelation, Malcolm Smith will be at Thriftway from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
