The Vashon Island School District, facing a looming deficit for its 2011-12 spending plan, is holding two public forums next week to discuss the issue.
The first, hosted by the PTSA, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at the McMurray Middle School library. A second one will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Chautauqua Elementary School.
The district’s shortfall could be as high as $850,000, Superintendent Michael Soltman has reported. The district plans to address the gap through a number of measures, including an ambitious fundraising campaign as well as program cuts.
