Beachcomber seeks stories about DUI

The Beachcomber is working on an article about alcohol and other drug abuse, and the culture around intoxicated driving on Vashon, especially among youth.

Statistics from VARSA show that alcohol availability per capita on the island is higher on average than in King County and the state, and anecdotally, stories about intoxicated driving on Vashon are common.

We’re looking for islanders who are willing to openly share their experiences or informed observations around drinking and driving on the island — including victims of, or drivers involved in DUIs; employees at, or owners of alcohol-serving establishments; Uber drivers; and anyone with insights into the local drinking and other drug use culture.
