Vashon students in grades kindergarten through 12 now have more homework help in the wings at Vashon Library’s Study Zone.
New tutor Larry Muir, a retired math teacher, has joined the ranks, expanding the hours Study Zone is available to 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. The two other tutors are Daphne Purpus, who has degrees in physics, Latin, English and library science, and Marcia Harris, also a retired math teacher.
Students are not required to register or sign up in advance for the free service. Tutors work at tables in the library with small groups of students on whatever the students need help with.
Study Zone is fairly well attended, said Hester Krem-er, manager of the Vashon Library, but there is room for more students. For information, call the library at 463-2069.
