A new board focusing on island health care is forming to relay community concerns about health-related issues and needs to the Highline and Franciscan board of directors, who oversee the Vashon Health Center.
The goal of the group, called the Vashon Health Center Citizens Advisory Committee, is to increase communication and foster relationships, according to May Gerstle, a member of Vashon HealthWatch, and one of the organizers of the new group.
The plan calls for 12 people who represent various health-related organizations to serve on the board, with six at-large positions.
Interested individuals are invited to submit a biography outlining their relevant background and experience and a letter of interest that outlines why they wish to serve on the advisory committee. Terms are two years.

Applications should be sent to VHCAC c/o P.O. Box 13527, Burton, WA 98013.
