A minivan flipped over and landed in the bushes on Dockton Road just beneath the Vashon Golf and Swim Club’s golf course late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, according to authorities.
According to Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office, the 1996 Ford Windstar was found near the 6th tee and was unoccupied when deputies found it. The car was discovered by a groundskeeper at the golf course who called the non-emergency 911 number.
The vehicle is registered to a Burien address, Urquhart said. There were no signs that anyone was injured in the accident, he added.
Randy Tonkin, a firefighter with Vashon Island Fire & Rescue who happened upon the scene of the accident Thursday morning, said the car was likely traveling fast when it went off the road, as two of the cables attached to the utility pole had been snapped off.
“It looked like they were traveling at a good rate of speed,” he said.
