The Vashon-Maury Island Land Trust will hold its annual tree sale on Saturday, an opportunity, land trust officials say, for Islanders to support ongoing efforts to strengthen Vashon’s native ecosystems.

The land trust will sell bare-root native trees and shrubs — including snowberry, mock orange, vine maple, Douglas fir and Western red cedar.

Walk-ins are welcome at the sale, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Land Trust Building on Bank Road.

Tom Dean, the land trust’s executive director, said the sale supports the nonprofit organization. But he said it’s also a way to restore Vashon’s ecosystem.

“We bring over 10,000 stems of native plants every single year,” he said. “Think of just the pure biomass that we’re generating with this project year after year.”
