After six months of serving Mediterranean-inspired small plates from a restaurant nestled between the print shop and VALISE in downtown Vashon, Isola is closing its doors.

Isola owner and chef Chris Lueck announced last Wednesday that financial difficulties have led him to close the eatery; the restaurant’s last day in operation will be Saturday, Feb. 13.

“I appreciate all the support we have received from the island,” Lueck said. “It was not quite enough to keep it viable, but we appreciate it. Hopefully people will be able to stop by one more time before we close.”

He said he will be selling the business and looking for a new owner with the financial wherewithal to take on the project.

“It will be a turn-key business for the buyer,” Lueck said.

The restaurant opened in June 2015, and Lueck said at the time that the restaurant would be “an entirely new concept” and unlike anything he had done before.
