Transportation group to meet
The transportation committee of Vashon-Maury Island Community Council will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in McMurray Middle School library.
Agenda items include updates on ferry bills before the legislature and what Islanders can do about them; bus connectivity with the ferries, on and off the Island; and being prepared for the next two-boat schedule or worse.
VISD meets in special session
The Vashon Island School District’s board of directors will meet in a special session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the J.T. Sheffield Building at 18850 103rd Ave. S.W.
The board will discuss its decision-making framework and priorities in developing a capital facilities plan. Such a plan could involve a large financial investment in the district’s infrastructure, including several of its major buildings.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will focus on the district’s educational mission statement, priorities and planning assumptions and a schedule.
Northend lot to be repaired
King County Department of Transportation’s Roads Division will be repairing a drainage problem at a manhole on the northend ferry parking lot between Feb. 19 and 29. Jim Didrickson of the Island Roads Division office said on Monday that only a few parking spaces would be taken up by equipment during the 10-day period.
Evening in Northern India
Peter Mantle and Sharon Morris will present photos from their journey in Northern India from Rajasthan to the Himalayas from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22. The event, a benefit for Sustainable Tourism on Vashon, will be at the Land Trust Building.
Ticket are $10 prepaid at Essentials 4 or $12 at the door.
