OBITUARY
Glen Oakley
Glen “Hogie” Oakley, formerly of Vashon Island, died suddenly last month at his home in Ferndale, Wash.
Born and raised in Washington, Oakley was a well-known and beloved character on the Island, where he was a prominent member of the Eagles Club.
He was an accomplished chef who trained at the Edison Tech Culinary School in Seattle shortly after serving in the military.
Oakley was born on Whidbey Island and lived in Washington for almost his whole life, including Point Roberts and Winthrop, where he avidly pursued his passion for fishing and loved nothing more than to catch and reel in a fighting steelhead, according to family members.
He had four children, including his beloved daughter Katie who died too young, and is survived by his loving daughters Tiffany Range and Erica West and loving son Daniel West.
The family extends an invitation to attend a memorial celebration of his life at 2 p.m. Oct. 5, at the Dockside Café in Point Roberts.
