Kerry Brice, a deckhand who was placed on administrative leave by Washington State Ferries (WSF) after a June incident on Vashon, has returned to work on the north end ferry route, said WSF spokesperson Marta Coursey.
Kerry Brice had a confrontation with Islander Tom Schiller at the intersection of Vashon Highway and Bank Road the morning of June 7, after Brice spotted Schiller filming him on the road with his iPhone, reportedly because Brice was speeding. During the argument Brice smeared a breakfast sandwich on Schiller’s windshield.
The video appeared on KING5 news that evening in a report titled titled “Ferry worker’s pastry road rage caught on tape” (the food was first thought to be a danish). Brice was placed on leave with pay while WSF investigated the incident.
Coursey said that after a meeting in which Brice told his side of the story, WSF Director of Operation Steve Rodgers determined he could return to full duty.
After his final hearing, Brice was given an undisclosed discipline by WSF.
