Expect delays at the Judd Creek Bridge July 26 to 30

The Judd Creek bridge, scheduled to be closed for resurfacing and repair for three weeks beginning July 26, will now remain open much of that time.

One lane will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 26 to 30, according to Linda Thielke, a spokesperson for the King County Department of Transportation. Delays are predicted for those days, however, and drivers should plan for waits up to 20-minutes long, depending on traffic conditions and work under way.

The bridge will be closed completely from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 2 to 4, Thielke said. During those times, drivers should use S.W. 204th Street and Old Mill Road S.W. as an alternate route.

When the plans to close the bridge for the duration of the project were announced, many Burton business owners were concerned about the impact to their businesses, Thielke said, and the Department of Transportation re-scaled the project to address the repair needs as well as the needs of the people in the neighborhood.
