A spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff’s Office said there is no evidence that cupcakes found Friday on Vashon were laced with marijuana.
“Anyone else who finds any more of those can certainly call us,” said Sgt. DB Gates. “We’re more than willing to take a report on it.”
Four cupcakes accompanied by cannabis-related business cards were found in flower pots outside Frame of Mind on Friday, according to Donna Kellum, the store’s owner. Kellum said she was concerned the treats may have contained marijuana. Deputies who responded to the report contacted the man on the business card, who told the deputies the he did place the cupcakes but they did not contain marijuana, according to Kellum.
Gates confirmed that cupcakes were found on Vashon Friday but said the sheriff’s office found no evidence that they contained marijuana and doesn’t plan to test them. She said the sheriff’s office hadn’t gotten reports of any other cupcakes found recently.
Gates noted that it’s not illegal to leave baked goods in public, and even if the cupcakes did contain marijuana, it’s not likely that criminal charges would result.
A cupcake suspected of containing marijuana was also found in a mailbox on Vashon on July 7, Gates said. The mailbox owner threw the cupcakes away after reporting the incident.
