County seeks feedback for strategic planning

As part of its strategic planning process, King County will hold a public forum on Vashon next week to hear feedback on county governance.

The King County Strategic Plan, updated every four years, directs the county’s goals and initiatives, and public input is intended to let officials know what King County has done well and what it could do better, said Alan Painter, the manager of the county’s Community Service Area program, which serves unincorporated areas such as Vashon.

“This is an opportunity for the good folks of Vashon to shape the future of King County and tell us the issues that are important to residents there,” Painter said.

This year the county is also soliciting input online at www.OneKingCounty.info.org. The website provides another avenue for county residents to share their thoughts and also provides a discussion forum where residents can interact online about a variety of subjects relevant to this area. The site will be available through Nov. 30.

The input the county receives through the series of public meetings it is holding and from the website will help set the course for the county government for the next five years, Painter said.

The Vashon forum on the strategic plan will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Courthouse Square.
