Corrections | April 10 edition

In last week’s edition of The Beachcomber, the page 1 story “Health Care District interviews candidates” inadvertently left out Colin Hennessey, one of the six candidates for the commissioner seat. Due to human error in the editing process, the section on Hennessey — which had already been written — was accidentally deleted prior to publication. His short biography and answers to the board’s questions have been restored in that article online, and appear in this edition’s update on the district’s selection.

Also, last week’s page 6 editorial (“Transparency benefits us all”) stated that local government districts “must post meeting minutes and agendas promptly,” which was an erroneous interpretation of state law. The Washington State Open Public Meetings Act does require the prompt public posting of agendas before meetings, but there is no such requirement for meeting minutes. Minutes must be recorded promptly and made available to the public, but state law does not require agencies to post those minutes to their websites.

We strive for accuracy and regret these errors.
