Lane closures near the north-end ferry terminal are possible in coming months as King County work crews upgrade wastewater pump stations that serve homes on Bunker Trail.
Work will begin Monday and take place between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. There will be no weekend or holiday work.
The project is expected to last as long as one year and temporary lane
closures along 103rd Avenue between the Vashon Ferry Dock to just south of 112th Street are likely. At these times, flaggers will be in the area directing traffic. King County officials said crews will maintain access for school buses, emergency vehicles and local traffic, as well as “coordinate closely” with the Washington State Department of Transportation to minimize impacts to ferry passengers.
Annie Kolb-Nelson, communications specialist for King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division, said the pumps that send wastewater to the county’s Vashon Treatment Plant are 20 years old and need to be repaired due to corrosion.
She also said there will be no service outages for sewage customers served by the pump stations.
