Civil rights forum
The King County Office of Civil Rights (OCR) will host a forum on Vashon to provide practical advice for everyone focusing on the civil rights basics: how to recognize discrimination, where and how to report it and how to stop discrimination from occurring.
This forum will give practical help to renters, property managers, employers, employees and building and business owners who have questions about their responsibilities and rights under anti-discrimination laws.
The meeting will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Vashon Library.
For more information about civil rights, OCR services or to file a complaint, call 296-7592, TTY 296-7596, e-mail to Civil-Rights.OCR@kingcounty.gov, or visit online at www.metrokc.gov/dias/ocre.
Water providers
“The Roles and Responsibilities of Water Providers” will be offered at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Land Trust Building.

What should the different roles and responsibilities be for water system co-owners, board members and designated operators and managers? What are the current regulations and what regulations are looming on the horizon? What are the legal and financial liability issues?
Howell is co-owner of Backflow Management Inc. and is dedicated to helping ensure a safe drinking water supply. Participants could win a free membership in Evergreen Rural Water of Washington.
