Buy treasures; help ferrets
Ferret Shelter Northwest Vashon will hold its annual Fall Rummage Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Land Trust Building on Bank Road.
As usual, most of the items will be available for free, with donations to the shelter encouraged but not required. A few ferrets will be on hand to answer questions of adoring humans, although shelter operators Michael and Miriam FitzPatrick will also be available to act as interpreters.
Departing from the usual priced-item format has been very successful for the shelter since Vashon Islanders have consistently been very generous in donating to the modest Island shelter, which includes many ferrets that have come to the shelter from here on Vashon, like Kelley and Einstein, who arrived in the past couple months.
Donations of smaller items can be made after 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the Land Trust Building.
For further information, or to make an item or tax-deductible cash donation, call 463-4371, or e-mail the shelter at
ferretamerica@yahoo.com.

Turkey shoot set for Nov. 22
The Vashon Sportsmen’s Club annual turkey shoot will be Saturday, Nov. 22.
Come on down to the Sportsmen’s Club range area and try your skill at trap shooting for a Thanksgiving turkey.
This event is open to all Islanders, rain or shine. Some ammunition will be available.
There will be different flights for different levels of competition. There will also be categories for women and youngsters.
Sign-up time is 9 a.m., and shooting is 10 a.m. through noon. Lots of turkeys will be available, not like the old days when we had live turkeys. No, folks, what you win will be a fine broad breasted, pre-cleaned, packaged bird.
Elections for next year’s officers will be Dec. 5. The coronation of the king and the ordination of the other trustees will take place on Dec. 19.
Dues for 2009 are payable now. We prefer the personal delivery of your dues. Of course, you can mail them to Vashon Sportsmen’s Club at P.O. Box 121, Vashon, WA 98070.
Call Lee Miller with questions at 463-6433; call Randy Thomas with complaints at 463-3923.
