Stress Relief Training
A free workshop on Stress Relief Training will be offered at the Vashon Library. Participants will be introduced to three techniques for resolving stress and restoring balance.
Stress Relief Training is a new system for addressing chronic stress through learning a variety of holistic skills, including visualization, body awareness, sharing life stories and exploring spirit and soul with a compassionate heart.
This two-hour workshop will be hosted by Aaron Gaul at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.

Use a plasma cutter
Jeep Brockway, a retired Boeing health and safety manager who has always enjoyed working with metal, brings his plasma cutter expertise to the Vashon Senior Center on Bank Road at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, for a free class open to everyone on the safe use of the machine; a second class later will provide hands-on experience in cutting metal barrel tops at Brockway’s studio.
Brockway said that plasma-cutting machines were once prohibitively expensive and used primarily for huge metal-cutting jobs. But in recent years the cost and size have dropped considerably, making them available for personal projects and for artists and metal workers who want to create unique works of art. Call the Senior Center at 463-5173 to preregister for the two-part class.
