Bond measure campaign begins to take shape

Vashon volunteers have begun to organize their campaign for a $47.7 million bond measure that would rebuild portions of the high school and a $3.5 million measure that would improve school athletic fields.

John “Oz” Osborne vol-

unteered to chair the effort, and Bettie Edwards, owner of The Little House, was recruited to co-chair the campaign. Deirdre Grace, meanwhile, will act as the communications chair.

Organizers have decided not to hire a campaign manager this time around, opting instead to run the effort entirely with volunteers, said May Gerstle, a member of the communications committee.

“This is not a good time to be raising money just for a campaign,” Gerstle said.

Osborne said those interested in volunteering can call him at 459-5693.
