A man accused of domestic violence was arrested on the island in the early morning hours on Wednesday after a brief standoff with law enforcement.
Those developments stem from a domestic dispute between a 60-year-old man and his girlfriend on the 13900 block of Southwest 220th Street, according to Sgt. Ryan Abbott, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
The dispute led authorities, including the SWAT team, to intervene and try to talk to the man, who was believed to have access to weapons.
Authorities negotiated for several hours with the man, who at one point opened the door to the residence before going back in. Then, just after midnight, he was arrested and booked on felony harassment.
Abbott said the sheriff’s office would forward charges to the King County Prosecutor’s Office and it would be up to them to decide what to do. He said the man has not had a probable cause hearing as of Wednesday afternoon and his bail has not been set.
