It’s no secret for those already living here: Vashon Island is one of the most scenic communities in the Pacific Northwest – a mix of rural and suburban that’s not only a great place to live, but also a wonderful destination for activities, food and fun.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, increased sailings on the King County Water Taxi are now making it easier to get to and from Vashon Island.
Starting July 1, you can catch the water taxi not only in the mornings and evenings on weekdays, but throughout the day, too. That means more freedom and more options, whether you’re headed to Seattle for appointments, shopping or work, or to Vashon Island for parks, restaurants, sight-seeing, thrifting and so much more.
Pet- and bike-friendly
You can also bring your dog or cat on board! Please use a leash or carrier, respectively. Bicycles are welcome, too. Our water taxis are equipped with bike racks that will accommodate standard and “fat” tires. Especially during the summer months, there’s nothing like a ride around Vashon or to Wingehaven Park.
Convenient connections and affordable fares
The Vashon Water Taxi pier offers perfectly timed connections to Metro routes 118 and 119. Metro also recently added even more weekday bus trips. Buses schedules on Vashon Island align not only with the King County Water Taxi, but also with the Washington State Ferry.
Water taxi fares are as little as $5.75 for adults if you have an ORCA card. Passengers 18 and younger ride free. There are reduced fares available for people with disabilities, people with lower incomes and seniors.
Proud to serve Vashon Island
Metro is excited to add more bus service and midday weekday sailings in response to the Vashon Island community’s request. The water taxi has been providing service to and from Vashon for nearly two decades. It takes just a 22-minute trip from pier to pier.
