On the first Friday of every month, Island galleries open their doors from 6 to 9 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) to show off new exhibits.
Because of the July 4 holiday, this month’s gallery cruise is the first Thursday, July 3.
Back Bay Inn
Karen Dale’s colorful oil paintings of Burton and Quartermaster Harbor will be shown at Back Bay Inn this month. The artist will attend the opening reception.
Blooms & Things
The shop will feature watercolors by Geri Peterson.
Blue Heron
“Ancient Message,” a show of of fiber art by Regina Benson, and “Leather and Lace,” ceramic work by Mary Hosick will be on display. The opening will feature refreshments and live music by pianist and vocalist Maggie Laird.
Books by the Way
The store will feature an exhibit of photographs by Jeanne Robinson, with live music by Great Rain.
Café Luna
John “Oz” Osborne exhibits his photography, a show called “Dilworth Sunrise.”
Duet
A group show will feature marine art by Michael Spakowsky, pen and ink cartoons by Ed Frohning, oil and acrylic nudes by Shawn Hair, hand-colored black and white marine art, hand-colored black and white infrared photography by Eric Hogan, and virtual watercolor photography.
Gallery 070
John Sloan’s show “Almost Perfect” is a photographic exploration into the manufactured culture of stereotypes and desire found in children’s toys.
The Hardware Store
There will be an exhibit of photographs by Cassie Bergman.
Heron’s Nest
Botanical art by Jean Emmons and a fused glass garden art by Isaiah Heyer will be exhibited.
Kronos
The shop will feature photographs by Anne Gordon, canvas paintings and hand-painted ceramics by Natasha Villone and acrylic on canvas by Francoise Von Dwingelo.
Silverwood Gallery
The gallery will be closed the first two weeks of July.
The Hardware Store and Splash
The restaurant will feature photography by Cassie Bergman, Harvey Bergman’s daughter; and at Splash, photographer Cindy Koch’s work will be on display.
Treasure Island
The store will host a Vintage Beads and Buttons show with bakelite, crystal, shell and more.
Two Wall
The gallery will present a retrospective of linoleum block prints from Greg Wessel. “Wessel: Works on Paper, and Sometimes Doesn’t,” the exhibit features works spanning eight years of effort.
Vashon Bookshop
Artist Shannon Hennessey will display nature-themed oil paintings. Her vibrant colors and semi-realistic approach offer a different way to interpret nature. The reception will feature music by Baba Cool (Rod Smith & Tan Cahill) on guitar and keyboards, plus a demonstration of the Greek modal system used in their music.
Vashon Community Care Center
“On Safari with Kendra and Lynn,” an exhibition featuring photographs by Kendra King and paintings by Lynn Wilhoit.
Vashon Senior Center
“Americana,” mixed media by older artists featuring eagles, sports, flags, the Statue of Liberty, an Indian fort, pennies and other celebrations of our country. A reception will occur from 5 to 8 p.m.
