The Lodges on Vashon and women-owned businesses located in Vashon Village are partnering to make this September a month to remember, as The Lodges on Vashon celebrates its seventh year of operations on Vashon.
As a “thank you” for all the island support over these years, The Lodges is throwing a free community-wide anniversary party from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at 17205 Vashon Highway SW. The event features Jacob Bain & Publish the Quest, a band with deep Vashon roots that has made a name for itself worldwide as both a musical and philanthropic force.
“We’re so grateful to have felt community love for what we have built here, through joyful times and more challenging ones,” said Christine Patterson, The Lodges on Vashon general manager and longtime islander. “This party is one small way we can acknowledge the road we have traveled alongside the people of this island and the support we have felt for trying something new. There have been some dark days and yet here we are, still dancing.”
Patterson said owners Jena Thornton and Scott Shapiro, along with The Lodges team, want to thank the community through this event.
“As a Vashon business that cares deeply about both community and giving back, we are delighted to have the support of so many local businesses as we work together on outreach that supports and lifts local families,” said Patterson. “And we all know music raises our spirits and lifting the world does indeed take a village. Community is everything.”
On Sunday, Sept. 4, female-led businesses will welcome the community to a morning of healing to benefit Vashon Youth and Family Services, a local organization that fosters emotionally healthy and resilient children, youth, adults and families. The event is at 17205 Vashon Highway SW, Suite B3 and B2.
The morning includes a community Vinyasa yoga flow, beginning at 11 a.m., as well as a sound bath at Claro, followed by tea at Spa Ecdysis in Vashon Village. The all-levels flow, led by Amanda Kelly, is free to the public and ADA accessible.
“Balance is good for people and the planet,” Kelly said. “We may not be able to fix the whole world, but we can do something and have a little fun while we’re at it.”
