Hip hop over to the Bike
Theoretics, a band whose music is equal parts hip hop, soul, electronica and funk, will play at 9 p.m. on Friday at Red Bicycle Bistro. The free show is for all ages until 11 p.m. and 21 and older after that.
In April of 2011, the band released its self-titled debut, consisting of original songs co-written by all band members. Their first music video, “Higher,” combined an energetic live performance and an interesting story told through break dancing. The group’s second video, “Jekyll and Hyde,” was made after the group raised more than $5,000 on the website Kickstarter.
World music group plays
Avaaza, the Island’s newest world music ensemble, will bring their signature sound and danceable beats to the Red Bicycle Bistro at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The show is free and for all ages until 11 p.m. Band members include vocalist Azula, bass player and bandleader Jason Everett, clarinetist Terri Garrett, guitar and mandolin player Chaz Reed, nay (Egyptian flute) and keyboard player Michael Nageub, violinist and belly dancer Tracy Helming and percussionist George Sadak.
Drama Dock does a mystery
The curtain will soon rise on Drama Dock’s latest offering, “Sherlock’s Veiled Secret.” The play, co-written by Seattle playwright K.C. Brown and actor and director Arne Zazlov, tells the story of the adventures of a beautiful London sculptress who joins forces with a retired and elderly Sherlock Holmes to solve one last mystery.
Christopher Ott will assume the title role. The play is directed by Drama Dock artistic director Elizabeth Ripley.
The show will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Vashon High School. Evening performances will take place on April 14, 19, 20 and 21; 2 p.m. matinees are scheduled on April 15 and 22. Tickets, ranging in price from $7.50 to $15, will be sold at the Vashon Bookshop and at the door.

San Francisco Bay area jazz duo Tuck & Patti, best known for their blockbuster 1980s era album “Tears of Joy,” will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Blue Heron Arts Center.
