t Acclaimed, one-woman show ‘The Boycott’ will be part of the festivities.

The Backbone Campaign will hold a celebratory send-off party for its upcoming tour of its latest giant puppet project, “The Procession for the Future,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Blue Heron theater.

The Backbone Campaign plans to take “The Procession” on the road in late August, with stopovers at both national political conventions as well as campuses across the country.

The send-off party and fundraiser — with members of the team who will be traveling across the country — will begin outside of the Blue Heron, where Correo Aereo, a duo comprised of Abel Rocha and Madeleine Sosin, will play the music of Venezuela, Mexico and Argentina. The duo, according to organizers, is known for using an unusual array of instruments, which they use to create “silken harmonies.”

Guests will then head inside for a rare Northwest performance of Kathryn Blume’s one-woman show, “The Boycott,” a highly acclaimed play that tells the story of the First Lady of the United States launching a nationwide sex strike to fight global warming and save the world.

Blume, artistic associate at Vermont Stage Company in Bur-lington, Vt., and co-founder of the Lysistrata Project, a worldwide theatrical event for peace, has won considerable attention for “The Boycott.”

“Kathryn Blume is Al Gore on crack,” the Anchorage Daily News opined.
