Ready for your big break in Vashon’s thriving theater scene?

Ready for your big break in Vashon’s thriving theater scene?

Members of five island theater companies will host an open call for talent in November, from actors to costumers to stage tech.

Anyone who interested in participating in theater on Vashon will have a chance to work with UMO, Drama Dock, Vashon Repertory Theatre, 14/48 and Vashon High School Drama Department productions by attending the open call and signing up for the Most Wanted List of island theater talent.

There are plenty of opportunities for actors, designers, stage managers, costumers, lighting and sound technicians to meet principals from the four participating companies. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 9, 10 and 16, applicants can come to the Vashon High School Theater to show up for 15-minute slots. Those interested may simply reserve a time to declare their talent. Head shots and resumes are welcome, but not required.

The theater companies also welcome performed monologues, song snippets or stories. Experience requirements range from zero to veteran and everything in between. The goal is to create a talent pool that will support quality theatrical productions on Vashon-Maury Island.

Vashon’s reputation as an arts destination is growing every year, and live theater on the island is expanding to accommodate.
