Shake Loose the Borders at the Blue Heron
Kat Eggleston, Wally Bell and John Dally will play music from the Border region of Scotland and Northern England at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Blue Heron Art Center.
Bell, who sings and plays cittern, an instrument similar to mandolin, grew up in the Borderlands. Eggleston will lend her voice, guitar and dulcimer to the group. Dally, a piper since age 14, will play Border pipes and the smaller Northumbrian pipes for the show.
Tickets, $12 to $14, are available at Blue Heron, Heron’s Nest and Books by the Way.
Salish Sea plays Happy Birthday to Bach
Salish Sea Concerts will present German harpsichordist Hans-Jürgen Schnoor, formerly organist and cantor at the St. Jakobi Church in Lübeck, and German soprano Maike Albrecht, both from Lübeck, Germany, along with baroque flutist Jeffrey Cohan in “J.S. Bach! A Birthday Bash,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Vashon Methodist Church.
There is a suggested (free will) offering of $15 for those older than 18. Youth are free.
Celtic players and knitters crowd Café Luna
All are welcome to come and knit, listen and/or play jigs, reels and polkas at a gathering of Celtic musicians at Café Luna from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 15.
Three bands take the stage at the Bike
Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi will have a full weekend of free music, with House Engine playing dance music at 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 13. Sidestreet Reny, a Bike favorite, will be back for a show at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14.
These two shows are for ages 21 and older. An all-ages show by Marilyn Kay & Co. will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 15.
