Since they were 7 years old, the girls of Just Fiddlin’ ’Round have grown up while their music grew with them. Seeing “old music through young eyes,” the girls have ventured from strict instrumentals and rudimentary improvisation to complex vocal harmonies, fancy fiddling and country rock.
Now Megan Hackett and Hannah Scheer of Just Fiddlin’ ’Round have announced the completion of their new compact disc, “Who’s Chicken?”
From cover songs such as “Grandma’s Feather Bed,” “Tennessee Bird Walk” and “Devil Went Down to Georgia,” to undiscovered jewels including “Man in the Moon is a Yodeler” and “Ashokan Farewell,” this CD has something for everyone. Rounding out the CD are more favorites, including “Can the Circle Be Unbroken,” “You Are My Sunshine” and “Country Roads,” all demonstrating Hackett and Scheer’s tight harmonies and fiddle stylings.
To celebrate the completion of the CD, Just Fiddlin’ ’Round will be holding a CD release party on Saturday, after the grand parade, in front of Vashon Island Music.
The band will play their latest music with new members Merideth Hackett and Preston Scheer, sign CDs and revel with fans.
