Junior Civic Ballet gets set to dance ‘The Nutcracker’

Vashon Junior Civic Ballet will perform Tchaikovsky’s beloved holiday ballet, “The Nutcracker,” several times over the course of the next two weekends.

The group’s production of “The Nutcracker” — now well into its second decade — is the longest running production of the classic ballet on Vashon.

Organizers said new costumes and choreography make the production fresh each year, even for those who have enjoyed the show in the past.

Vashon Junior Civic Ballet began in 1980, under the direction of Betsy Frazee, and became a Vashon Park District program in 2000.
