In honor or Holy Week, local author Deborah Anderson and artist Will Forrester will present poems and painting from the book “Kneeling at the Cross: A Protestant Looks at Crucifixion” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Vashon Bookshop.

The poems by Anderson are a collection written by the author about her time as the cantor at St. Benedict Parish in the Wallingford district. Forrester designed each iconic drawing or painting to specifically reflect the text of the poem it accompanies.

Terry Hershey, islander and author of “Sanctuary: Creating Space for Grace in Our Life” said, “Deborah Anderson reminds us that this journey of the spirit and of faith is an invitation to a life where we are free to love, to share, to shout, to play, to laugh, to cry, to be unafraid of uncertainty because we rest in the knowledge that we are beloved.”
