Grammy Award winner Michelle Shocked will return to Vashon with her 2012 “Roccupy” tour at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Open Space for Arts & Community.

The concert, inspired by the broad-based Occupy movement and Shocked’s involvement in the group Occupy Fights Foreclosures, will include audience favorites as well as new, unreleased material. Volunteers from the audience will be asked to come on stage to sing along with tour opener Jimmy Cabeza deVaco.

Tickets, $23 and $28, are on sale at Vashon Bookshop and www.brownpapertickets.com.

The songs of Sondheim — considered one of the best lyricists and composers of all time, with credits such as “West Side Story,” “Gypsy,” “Sweeney Todd” and “Into the Woods” — will be sung by a constellation of Island singers, including Elizabeth Ripley, Louie Mangione, Elizabeth Anthony and Arlette Moody.
