A beloved tradition continues this weekend and next when Vashon artists open their studios to visitors during the Holiday Vashon Island Art Studio Tour. With over 100 artists showing and selling work in 32 studios and shops, the tour will be held on Dec. 6 and 7 and Dec. 13 and 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The artists’ work includes a wide range of media, such as holiday heirloom stockings, gourd ornaments, colorful pillows, twig chairs, satellite spy creatures and metal sculpture. There will be oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors, wax encaustics, handcrafted wooden cutting boards, beeswax candles, cast bells, porcelain pottery, painted terracotta tiles and more.
Visitors will be able to talk with the artists, see where and how they create their work and purchase art directly from the artist.
The tour is free and self-guided, with studio tour maps available at most island businesses and at all the studios on the tour. Preview the art and download a map online at vashonislandstudiotour.com.
