Organizers of the popular Island variety show, The Church of Great Rain, will host what they’re calling a “Halloween Spooktacular” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi.
The evening’s special musical guest will be master theremin player Dan Marchetti, who will both explain and demonstrate the eerie, “hands-free” musical instrument devised by Russian inventor Leon Theremin in the early 1900s.
Other segments of the show will be hosted by David Godsey and The Holly Roller Radio Players, a group that includes Jeanne Dougherty, Karen du Four des Champs, Jim Farrell, Cindy Hoyt, Jeff Hoyt, Janet McAlpin, Lyn McManus, Steffon Moody and Jon Whalen.
The group has written all new material for the show, including sketches billed as the haunting premiere of “Rural-topia: Last Stand of the NIMBYs,” “Blood-curdling Fundraising Ideas for Vashon Cemetery District,” “The Frightening Return of the Diva of Dirt and Her Harvest of Horror” and a segment devoted to “Seven Scary Words that Islanders Must Never Dare to Speak Aloud.”
As always, the show will also include plenty of local music by the Church house band, led by Greg Parrott and Frank Hein.
Admission is free to the family-friendly show, which is performed on the last Sunday of every month at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi.
Got skits?
