First Friday is back, with a bounty of new work for art admirers to see.
VCA’s 15th Annual Miniature Show
For its 15th consecutive year, Vashon Center for the Arts opens its annual Miniature Show, with extended gallery hours from 12 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3.
This exhibition includes more than 80 artists. All pieces on display are available for purchase and can be taken home the same day. It closes on Dec. 24. Regular gallery hours are 12 to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday. Gallery hours for Christmas Eve are 12 to 4 p.m.
VALISE’s 5×5 Show
VALISE Gallery continues the 5×5 Show, with gallery members exhibiting small works. A reception takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3.
Each of the members of the artist collective was given 20 wood panels each measuring 5 inches by 5 inches on which to create small masterpieces. Artists include Gregory Burnham, Dot Cherch, Bill Jarcho, Jesse Johnson, Pascale Judet, Corinne Lightweaver, Rachel LordKenaga, Robert Passig, Jiji Saunders, Sharon Shaver, Hita von Mende, George Wright and Lenard Yen. All the works at VALISE are priced at $75.
During December, VALISE is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The show runs through Saturday, Dec. 24.
Pam Ingalls: “Sweet Dreams, Oil Paintings of Near and Far”
Local artist Pam Ingalls debuts a new collection of oil paintings at The Hardware Store Gallery entitled “Sweet Dreams, Oil Paintings of Near and Far,” opening 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. First Friday, Dec. 3.
Daryl Redeker will provide music at the opening from a perch above the gallery. The exhibit will run through the month of December.
Melanie Farmer and Kari Ulatoski
Melanie Farmer and Kari Ulatoski invite islanders to their holiday show, opening at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 and located at 17425 Vashon Hwy SW, next to Trigg Insurance. The show includes prints, paintings, fiber art and hand-painted ornaments. Prices start at $20.
