Vashon Park District’s Concerts in the Park series presents the final concert of its summer season, with The Rumba Kings taking the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Ober Park.
The band plays passionate Mediterranean-inspired music in a live performance that is increasingly getting attention in the Pacific Northwest. The group’s new single, “Dance with me,” has been praised and shared by top radio personality, Delilah, and Seattle’s KNKX has been a proud supporter of the band’s live shows and music.
The show features mostly instrumental nylon-guitar-driven music, influenced by such artists as the Gipsy Kings and Yanni. A guest vocalist and dancer will also make special appearances.
Opening for The Rumba Kings will be Vashon local Alex Amundson. Amundson is a 23-year-old artist from Texas, who left home at the age of 18 to pursue making music across America. He will perform from 7 to 7:15 p.m.
Concerts in the Park is curated by Vashon Events. Sound equipment and lighting are provided by Laird Gonter of Bandstand Music, and Martin Feveyear of Feveyear Master Mix will be dialing in the sound.
The concert series is free and geared for all ages. The Vashon Park District will rope off a kids-only section of the Ober Park berm for kids to slide down. Bring a picnic and blanket or lawn chairs, and remember that dogs, alcohol and smoking aren’t permitted in Ober Park.
