“Eve Was Framed: A comedy about misogyny,” a bold, multimedia one-woman show filled with witty satire and poignant social commentary, will be staged at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Red Bicycle Bistro.

Written and performed by Islander Lynann Politte, the show draws from history, current events and Politte’s personal experiences to explore the persistence of misogyny in contemporary culture.

“Eve Was Framed” — a fusion of provacative physical theater, storytelling, monologues and poetry — had its debut in 2009 as part of Vashon Island Arts’ New Works Series, playing to sold-out crowds at the Blue Heron.

Friday night’s show is a fundraiser for the DoVE Project, an Island organization that offers services for those affected by domestic violence.

Through the DoVE Project, survivors of domestic violence can gain access to a support group, get help with legal procedures and speak to an advocate. The group works under the umbrella of Vashon Youth & Family Services.

Tickets to “Eve Was Framed,” offered on a sliding scale of $15 to $25, are on sale at Island book stores. If tickets are available at show time, they will be sold at the door.

The show, which includes spicy language and frank talk about women’s sexuality, is for ages 16 and older.
