More than 50 years ago, the man who changed the face of popular music tragically died in a plane crash at age 22. Now “Buddy — The Buddy Holly Story,” tells the story of the three years in which he became the world’s top recording artist.
This show features over 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest hits including, “Peggy Sue,” “That’ll Be The Day,” “Oh Boy,” “Everyday,” “Not Fade Away,” “Rave On” and “Raining In My Heart.”
“Buddy” has had audiences on their feet in every corner of the globe and now a show that is considered to be the world’s most successful rock ‘n’ roll musical is back and ready to explode onto the stage in a toe-tapping, hand-clapping extravaganza.
The musical follows the tragically short life of Buddy Holly from his first recording contract through to his move to New York and concludes with the fatal tour of Midwest America.
This show is not to be missed as “Buddy” is filled with two hours of the best rock ‘n’ roll songs ever written. Billy Joe Huels (5th Avenue Theatre) reprises his role as Buddy Holly, with a band of stellar islanders including Gavin Kovite as Joe Mauldin on bass and Kelly Van Camp as Jerry Allison on drums in the Drama Dock production of “Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story.”
The creative team of artistic producing Director Lisa Peretti and musical director Maggie Laird bring this acclaimed musical vibrantly to life on stage at the Vashon Center for the Arts.
Drama Dock was created by a group of arts-minded neighbors on Vashon Island in 1976, under the inspiration of theatrical agent, Tish Lopez. As the longest-running theatre organization on the island, Drama Dock has presented over 100 productions during its 46-year history.
Drama Dock’s mission is to build partnerships with artists to create classic, original, and musical works for the stage that foster artistic excellence, showcase new and emerging talent, and celebrate community. We produce theatre that celebrates hope and opportunity while building artistic partnerships in the Puget Sound Region.
