Locals will show off their comedy chops
A evening billed as “Death Defying Comedy” will kick off at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Red Bicycle Bistro.
The night of comedy will be hosted by Steffon Moody, who frequently brings Island comedians to the Bike to play to sell-out crowds.
“This is the spectacle that has local personalities compromising their basic integrity by revealing way more than any sane person would ever dream of doing,” Moody joked.
Performers on the bill on Friday include Mik Kuhlman, an UMO Ensemble member and solo performer.
Harris Levinson will also perform standup, and there will also be appearances by Aimee Cartier, Katherine Daves and Tasha Lewis.
Tickets to the show cost $5, and because the humor can be racy, the evening is for adults only.
A comedy competition returns to Vashon
A Thanksgiving eve tradition will take place at Vashon Theatre, when some of the region’s funniest comics take the stage to compete in the Seattle International Standup Comedy Competition.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24.
It’s one of the final rounds of the Seattle International Comedy Competition, an annual, multi-week, judged, stand-up comedy contest.
More than 30 comedians, out of hundreds who apply, perform in shows held in comedy clubs, bars, restaurants, casinos and theaters in and around the Seattle throughout the month of November.
Theater owner Eileen Wolcott said she is excited to host the show on Vashon for the sixth consecutive year.
“I noticed that we had a lot of extra family members and friends on the Island who were looking for something to do on that night,” said Wolcott.
Tickets, on sale now at the theater box office and www.brownpapertickets.com, are $17 general admission and $15 for teenagers under 18 and seniors age 60 and older.
Wolcott said the humor at the event can be spicy.
“This is really fun for adults and teens, but not really intended for children,” she said.
