The Vashon-Maury Chamber Orchestra, led by Karin Choo, will present its spring concert, “D’Italia,” twice this weekend at Vashon Methodist Church.

The first performance, tailored for young audiences, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27.

Later that evening, at 8 p.m., the concert will be staged again for an older crowd.

Both Italian-inspired concerts will feature Vashon Opera’s Andrew Krikawa, baritone, singing arias by Rossini and Verdi, Rossini’s “String Sonata No. 1,” Hugo Wolf’s “Italian Serenade” and “Allegro” from Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenir de Florence.”

The orchestra will also spotlight high-school senior Adria Engelhard, playing the lead violin part for a movement of Vivaldi’s “Spring” from “The Four Seasons.”

Children attending the morning concert, hosted by Swingset Music’s Gabriele Burgess and Kim Thal, may recognize Krikawa as “The Wolf” from Vashon Opera’s production of Little Red Riding Hood.

Admission to the children’s concert is by donation. Tickets to the evening concert, available at the door, are $10 general and $7 for students and seniors.
